The nice thing is, most families ALL want this photo, so splitting the cost amount to each other is easy when you use services like Venmo!
How to split the cost of a family shoot fairly? Find the number of couples in the group, and then take the session fee, and have it split between the group. When the photos are delivered each family will purchase their own set of photos.
When I photograph an extended family generational photo session I make sure to do all the different family groupings, as well as one large family photo.
I do various combinations of grandparents with each grandchild, all siblings with the parents, and all separate family units.
