Fairmont Copley Wedding Photos Boston

Christina and Shawn were married at St. Joseph in Belmont.  They had their wedding at the Fairmont Copley Plaza Hotel in Boston.  I love the Fairmont!  I always seem to have the best clients there, and the prettiest light.   The interesting thing about this wedding was, my husband and I drove up to the wedding from Plymouth MA.   We were visiting family.   We left Plymouth with PLENTY of time for traffic.  We were so early, we pulled over to grab water at a store.  Then we sat, checked email, made sure our gear was ready and just went over the plan.  When it was time to go, Seth turned the key… nothing.    He made sure the car was in park, and tried again.  Nothing.  I JUMPED out of the car, grabbed my stuff and called a cab. We didn’t even stop to find out what was wrong with the car.   In my defense, I drive a practically brand new car.  The car breaking down, isn’t even a THOUGHT in my head.   We then took one VERY scary cab ride to the brides house, and then hopped on the trolley.  Crisis averted.   (question I get asked, “what do you do in an emergency?” Answer:  Hop in a cab!”)

Off to the church.  St. Josephs in Belmont is a really popular church for weddings, I’ve done 6-8 weddings there over my career.  I seem to have a lot of Belmont brides (and they ALL know each other – but aren’t referrals, weird- right?)   We pull up to the church, I hop out and go inside.  The church coordinator comes RUNNING up to me, and says “like the new rug??? I had it put in because of you!”  Oh how embarrassing…

Last year at Meghan and Jeff’s wedding, I was carrying my bag of camera gear in the church.  The rug was all bunched up (because it was old and coming up from the floor) I caught the rug with my foot, went FLYING into the church, knocked over a guest, and went flying into a groomsmen. Head First.    True story.   The Groomsmen (God Bless him) caught me before I went head first into the back row of pews.   He was my knight in shining armor.  Had I not been married, it could have been one of those “eye locking” moments where my hero saves me, and we live happily ever after.   I was so thankful he caught me.  The bag I was carrying was so heavy,  it created more momentum for me to make a huge crash.  The coordinator saw it all happen.    It was so dramatic-  she convinced the church to replace the rug.  The embarrassing part, she remembered me.  (whimper). A year later, she remembered ME , the lone photographer out of ALL the photographers who go in there every weekend.

Well, St. Joseph has a great rug…and I guess people can thank my clumsiness.  The rest of my wedding with Christina and Shawn went without a hitch  Below are the photos from the day!   Beautiful bride and a handsome groom with a few local celebrities in the mix.

The cool thing about the dress was that it was her mother’s dress.  She had it changed a bit.  It was beautiful, and the veil was stunning with it!

One of the best parts of the wedding, was the Mother of the Grooms Toast.  She had given the bride a gift, and told her not to open it until she told her to.  They brought the present on the Trolly, to the church and then into the reception hall. Finally, in front of all the guests she was told she could open it.  Inside, was one of the funniest things I’d seen at a wedding.  The mother of the bride started with “inside this box, is something that is very special to Shawn…”  The bride opened it, and it was his baby blanket, and his teddy bear. She went on to say how she’d taken care of it for 30 plus some odd years, “and now.. it was her turn!”     It was really sweet and funny.  The photos show the story.

The look on Shawn’s face, is amazing. He was so confused.
