One of the best places to shoot family portraits in Wakefield is at the Wakefield Lake. It is also known as Lake Quannapowitt. It's one of my go-to locations for family and portrait photography in Wakefield.
Located near the town center, this lake was manmade along with Crystal Lake. Around the Lake is a three-mile sidewalk that is home to people going for walks and runs. It's a great spot to visit in the summer, and kayak rentals are available, but no swimming is allowed in the lake due to the arsenic that was poured into the lake.
I have found the best time to photograph can be either morning or afternoon. There is plenty of shade. In the morning, the side by Honey Dew Donuts has great backlighting and in the afternoon, the church on the opposite side of the lake offers a great arch for photos.
