The Maudsley State park is a 450 Acre and was formally known as the Mosley Estate. It was owned by a wealthy merchant who bought and developed the grounds. First Edward's first son bought some land and put up a cottage and then his second son, a stockbroker, bought more land. The family went between Beacon Hill and Newburyport. They had a farm house that helped feed them when they visited. Edwards third child (a daughter) then built her own house. 12 years after it was built she died, and 25 years later it burned down. Over the years the estate was passed around and was finally handed over the a Land Trust in 1978 and was decided to have it be a land of recreation.
Its a beautiful facility for engagement sessions with miles of trails and wonderful views. While a lot of the original buildings are gone, you can still find remnants of the original buildings.
