Boston Harborwalk Engagement Photos
The Boston Harborwalk location featured in this photo includes a newly engaged couple during their engagement photos. It's one of the best locations for portrait photography that features a water view of the Boston Skyline and Boston Harbor.
This portion of the Boston Harborwalk, known as Fan Fair Park, is located behind the Joseph Moakley United States Courthouse. It provides the perfect background for family and couples portrait photography. Interestingly enough the Harborwalk is a 43-mile linear park around Boston's Shoreline! If you haven't walked it, you should! The light down there is spectacular because it's soft when it goes behind the buildings.
It’s a popular spot in Boston for Engagement photos and surprise proposal photos.
When should I propose on the waterfront?
Proposals down on the waterfront are very common. The best time from a photography standpoint would be after the sun is behind the buildings. If you do it too early, the sun is going to blind you, and if you do it too late you don't have enough gorgeous light.
I've found this area located near the Seaport district and near Fort Point Park where the new Martin’s Park is located.
I have also been in contact with couples who have used The Envoy Hotel Lookoutview and bar in Boston for a rooftop Proposal. You can rent the roof out at certain times of the day and propose! There is also the Over the Charles Rooftop Bar at the DoubleTree Suites in Cambridge with a great view of the Charles River and the Boston Skyline. Due to covid and the time of year, a few other rooftops are currently closed,
When planning for a proposal what things should you think about?
One thing I always recommend is having a “plan b”. If the proposal you have planned is based on bright blue skies and perfect conditions, life is not perfect. You want to make sure you have a “perfect day proposal plan” and a “plan b proposal plan.“ If it rains there are a couple things you can do. You can have an indoor location in mind, or you can reschedule. If you need to find an indoor location, there are so many lovely hotels downtown. You just want to make sure you have something planned because life is never perfect. Don’t fret if it’s not what you envisioned, you are creating a memory and a story about getting engaged, what will your story be?TIME OF DAY FOR PROPOSAL IN BOSTON
Typically the best time of day to capture the skyline is after the sun is behind the buildings in the late afternoon. With the sun hidden, it casts soft light onto The Harborwalk and is attractive for photography.Location: 1 Courthouse Way, Boston, MA 02210. .
