Block Island is such a unique place for engagement photos. As you can see here, Rachel and David wanted to show the simplicity of Block Island. The American Flag and the green grass while the couple kisses and hugs just shows you how easy life is on Block Island. Rachel and David have been coming here to vacation for years. It was only fitting to do their engagement photos there. Block Island is a cute little island that is off the coast of Rhode Island. It's a very busy summer area and the backdrop for photos is perfect. They also had their wedding there the very next day. I love this photo because it shows how windy it was that day with the American Flag in the background. The time of day was mid day (A time I don't normally recommend for photos) so this photo was perfect. I was able to go down the hill and get a shot of them from below and still get the flag. Block Island is such an American little town and having the flag in it really represented a lot of the feelings the Island provides. My husband and I were lucky enough to poke around the Island for a few days after the wedding, and its one of my favorite places to vacation. The charm of the main street, the beaches and the bluffs overlooking the backside of the Island are breathtaking. I loved creating this image because I loved the negative space of the sky and the colors. I also loved the lines of the flag bringing your eye to the couple. The isolation of the subject is what really makes this image work.
